2010

Isn't it interesting how next year it is going to be 2010? This brings to mind that 1984 sequel film to 2001 a Space Odyssey. The sequel was called 2010.

Silly as it may sound, the movie makes me feel inadequate at some level or another that we aren't taking manned expeditions of this caliber to Jupiter.

How we couldn't live up to how hollywood and Arthur C. Clark envisioned us to be even at the year 2001. Instead of encountering a buried monolith under the moon's surface in 2001, (that can be interpreted as a milestone in human progression) two terrorists buried two monolith's in 2001. Which in my opinion can be interpreted as a milestone for the decline of human progression. We did not work hard enough to get to the future 2001 A Space Odyssey proposed. We are not in the future that we wanted.

It's a tad depressing that we haven't put aside our differences in order to pursue, as a world collectively, the answers to the great mysteries the universe presents to us. The mysteries continue to encapsulate us.
